As soon as I posted my previous review, I got an email from the hotel management offering to comp my entire stay! They apologized for the problems with the bugs and said the room would be fumigated and all adjacent rooms would be inspected for insects. I am now a happy camper. Now that I know that management takes these things VERY serious, I think I can recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in Vancouver.

Just came back from a visit to Vancouver where we stayed at this property. Initially, we were delighted with this apartment hotel. It's in a very nice location - just a 1 min. boat ride from Granville Island with its wonderful food market. The room is comfortable with decent kitchen and laundry facilities. My biggest complaint (and it's BIG) is that my second night there I was bitten 7 or 8 times by some kind of bug. My wife found a small insect on the bed and when she smashed it, it was full of blood (mine!) I told the staff and they were not very sympathetic. The desk person didn't even apologize. She just said that she would let housekeeping know. I wasn't offered any kind of compensation. My other complaint about this hotel is the extra charges - $15/night for parking and $9.95 for internet (wired not wireless), plus taxes on both.

I happened upon a good deal for this hotel at $200/night for a one bedroom suite. The hotel is geared toward long stays so amenities were low, but the location was superb for our purposes. We stayed here with my family which includes a baby and a toddler. Every day, twice a day we walked about a block down to the Aquabus to ride over to Granville Island. Nothing beat that convenience. Parking our van was included in the price. The rooms were clean though not large, and the bedroom was big enough to squeeze in the baby's playpen without moving the furniture. When we asked for extra pillows, the front desk guy came up right away with two. The continental breakfast was probably one of the most paltry I'd seen, but it's still free food... coffee, muffins, fruit, etc... good enough to start our day. It was a little hot since the rooms are not air conditioned. For the price, I was fine with these downsides. The space was clean, and it's true that the towels are not the best quality, but they were bright white and clean. The kitchen was stocked with all the standard hotel suite kitchen things (plates, knives, utensils, cutting board... etc.) but there was no dish soap. Good thing there are two quickie marts within a very short walking distance, one of them was right across the street. All in all I was fine with this place and would return. They were pressure washing the building during our stay, but it did not bother us even with the windows open.

Check-in involves reading and signing a two-page do's and don't's list. Violations are strongly discouraged and explicitly outlined. The rooms are well-appointed and clean, but the towels and linens are budget motel quality. The location is great. Parking and accessing the Internet adds $22/day to your bill. The staff seems more concerned about hotel standards and practices than guests' comfort and needs.

The hotel has no marquee - only a logo and the address number. Check-in requires reading and signing a two-page do"s and don"ts list. Infractions are very strongly discouraged. In-room internet, advertised as an amenity, is billed at $10/day. Parking adds another $12.The rooms are clean and well-appointed, but don"t look for hotel-like features and service. Closing your guest room door does not lock it, while the street door requires an additional key, after hours.
